An American man (40), dies above Chamonix on Wednesday morning, 29 June 2016. The fatal impact prematurely terminated a WiSBASE* from the summit of the Brévent (2.525m), in the Aiguilles Rouges massif.
The Chamonix PGHM was alerted by a witness of this tragic accident.
According to Ouest-France, the victim's body was recovered by the Chamonix PGHM at approximately 9:30am, shortly after the WiSBASE launch, in the Brévent couloir.
An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the accident!
*WiSBASE: Wingsuit Base Jumping is the sport of wingsuit flying. WiSBASE technique is proximity flying, which is flying close to the faces and ridges of mountains.
On Wednesday 8 June 2016, An Italian man 33, was also found dead in the Mont Blanc massif, at 2,000 meters above sea level, in a couloir leading to the Bossons glacier.
