Missing Person on the Mont-Blanc Massif

An  appeal for witnesses was made after the alarming disappearance of a mountaineer on the Mont-Blanc Massif.

On Sunday, 12th May 2013, Miss Gaëlle CAVALIÉ, a 21 year old resident of SAINT-GERVAIS-LES-BAINS (74), took the telepherique to the summit of the lift Grands Montets. Miss CAVALIÉ intended to climb the Aiguille Verte via the Couturier couloir.

The ascent was postponed until Tuesday for more favorable weather conditions.  At 3:00am on Tuesday 14 May, Miss CAVALIÉ began her ascent with several other climbers.  After 300 meters, the other climbers, on the same route, turned back, but Gaëlle continued to climb on alone.

Miss Gaëlle CAVALIÉ is a white caucasian female, with brown hair height 1.75m was last seen wearing a red Quechua vest, a blue The NorthFace jacket, black trousers, carrying a red bag and a white helmet.

Anyone who has been on her intended route Grands Montets, Couturier Couloir, Aiguille Verte, Whymper Couloir, Refuge du Couvercle, Bassin de Talèfre, Montenvers, Chamonix, since Tuesday is requested to contact the  Chamonix PGHM on 04 50 53 16 89 to communicate any information that may help to find Gaëlle.
