Golden Ice Axe, the comeback to Chamonix

After a period where this famous prize was under suspension, it will come back in 2009 and it will happen in Chamonix. The 17th edition will chose 6 routes climbed in 2008, from a list of 57 big first ascents or high difficulty routes climbed all over the world. In the group of the selected routes, we can find the new 2000m route climbed in the South face of the Nuptse (7861m, Nepal) by the French climbers Stéphane Benoist & Patrice Glairon Rappaz. The juri will be headed by the British climber, Doug Scott. The climbs will be presented in Chamonix & Courmayeur on the 22nd to the 25th April. Don't miss this big event.
