Green light for the Tram-Train

Between the RFF (Réseau Ferré de France), the SNCF, the Regional Council, the General Council, the Swiss trains, the French national and local governments, 53 million euros were found to renovate the railway line between the Fayet and Vallorcine. The Community of Municipalities of the Chamonix Valley will pay 2.5 million euros. In this overall budget, there is also 17 million euros for the renovation of the tunnel des Montets which allows road access to Vallorcine during heavy snowfall. The works are scheduled for the summer and fall of 2012, and perhaps a bit on 2013. Then the trains will pass every 30 minutes between Les Houches and Vallorcine.
