Two climbers stranded for three nights at 4000m

Two climbers left on Tuesday for the summit of Mount Blanc, but during the descent they were overtaken by bad weather. The two climbers, a man and a woman from Haute Savoie, made an emergency call to the PGHM. Unfortunately, bad weather and poor visibility prevented a helicopter rescue. So, following instructions from the PGHM, they made their way to the Refuge Vallot at 4362 meters. Once there, they waited for better weather conditions, and a helicopter rescue. And so the long wait began for our two climbers, isolated from the world at over 4000m, except for contact by radio transmitter to the PGHM below. Only yesterday morning at 7:45am, after three nights at high altitude, were the team recovered and airlifted to Sallanches hospital. They are said to be dehydrated but in good health. Le Dauphiné
