Several large rockfalls were seen on the western face of the Drus over the weekend. Large chunks of rocks fell down the face, and an estimated total of 12000m3 of rock is thought to have fallen. The first fall occurred at 15:30hrs Saturday, and two more on Sunday, between 10:00hrs and 14:00hrs. The PGHM conducted a reconnaissance of the Dru by helicopter, and confirmed no-one climbing in the area & no-one reported as missing. However, one team had a lucky escape after just finishing the "American Direct", a route located on the same side of the mountain as the later rockfall.
