Cow fights in Les Houches, 25 Sep 2011

The battle to be Queen (cow that is!) will be held all day this Sunday the 25th of September in Les Houches. The local farmers bring their Herens race of cows to scuffle for hieriachy (injuries are rare!!). The farmers breed this race of cow for the passion and the sole purpose of these competitions. The cows are divided into weight and age with the lightweights starting the competion in the morning and heading up to the heavyweights later in the day. The winner gets to be queen and wins giant cow bells and flower crowns, the status of Queen of Queens and gets to parade around with her proud owner in front of the spectators! There are food and drinks (sodas, beer etc.) stands for the spectators and sunny weather has been forecast.
