In 2003, the UTMB's first year, there was only one race, the UTMB. 10 years later and there are now 4 courses, with maybe an additional one in 2013.
UTMB
The showpiece event has seen its distance extended to 168 km, a little more than 100 miles, the same as organised races in the United States. The total climb is currently 9600 m, 1000 m more than the original.

TDS
114 km long with 7150 metres of ascent, the race is now in its third year and takes only a small part of the Tour du Mont Blanc. The route passes through the cols of Petit-Saint-Bernard, Bourg-St-Maurice and Beaufortain.

CCC
The trailers leave Courmayeur for the seventh time in the CCC. 100 km and 6000 m of altitude, highest point at the Tête de la Tronche (2584 m). From the Refuge Bertone, the course joins the UTMB, finishing at the Tête aux Vents (2130 m).

Léon Lovey is vice president of the "Trailers du Mont-Blanc", the UTMB host association. For this race, which is not timed, Jean-Claude Marmier has concocted for the fifth time a course above the norm: 284 km, 21,500 m of ascent, including 2 passages of over 3000 m: Col de l’Ane (3033 m) and the Buet (3096 m).
