According to Radio Mont Blanc alpinists must now hope for cancellations to consider the ascent of Mont Blanc by the classic route.

Storm Eleanor: The refuges have suffered some damage, especially on the normal way of Mont Blanc at 3,800 meters. The Goûter Refuge is part of the buildings that were affected by the storm Eléanor, the refuge suffered some damage to the photovoltaic panel, but the panel was repaired.
Webcams at Goûter Refuge
For a safe purpose, webcams have been installed on the Goûter Refuge to check out the evolution of the weather conditions.
Three webcams have been installed on the Goûter refuge, to allow climbers to observe in real time the weather conditions in altitude, before climbing the Mont Blanc. Check here webcams (Due to the adverse weather conditions the webcams may be unavailable).
Climb Mont Blanc by the Gouter Route
If you plan to climb Mont Blanc by the Gouter route (the classic route), the list of mandatory equipment is the following: hat, sunglasses, ski mask, sun cream, warm and waterproof jacket, mountaineering trousers and base layer, mountaineering-specific boots and crampons, harness and crevasse rescue equipment, rope, ice axe, GPS or altimeter.
Attention : it is strongly recommended to hire a High Mountain Guide in Chamonix, because there are many High Mountain Guides that live in the Chamonix valley and there is always availability.
