Several rescue interventions for the PGHM this weekend

This weekend, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December, has been very busy for the Chamonix High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM).

Sunday 11 December: two rescues carried out by the PGHM

Sunday 11 December at 2:10 p.m., the PGHM of Chamonix went to the territory of the municipality of Montriond to rescue a skier practicing speed riding. The skier was hanging from a tree by his mini-sail. He was quickly rescued and then transported to Annecy hospital with the Choucas 74 gendarmerie helicopter.

Earlier in the day, at 11.47 a.m., the PGHM rescued a cross-country skier (40 years old) who injured his head during his descent from the Combe des Rachasses, near the Grands Montets ski area. He was taken to Sallanches hospital.

Saturday 10 December: three skiers lost in the fog were rescued

Saturday 10 December, despite the bad weather, many snow enthusiasts went to ski in the Chamonix valley.

At the end of the day, three ski tourers who were evolving in the Tour ski area (which is not yet open) got lost in the fog during the descent. A team from Chamonix (PGHM) joined them on skis to get them out of there.

In the afternoon, the PGHM intervened in the Tour area to help the client of a high mountain guide who had injured his lower limb. The rescuers joined the two men on a quad and then on skis.

The injured skier was then evacuated by land caravan to the bottom of the area, where he was taken care of by the firefighters.
