The Compagnie du Mont Blanc have release their prices for the 2009/10 season. Prior to publication they were presented to the Mayor's office for approval. The CMB presented its rates with a rise of 26%. The Mayor negotiated a significant reduction on the winter season passes "Chamonix Le Pass" (CLP) and "Mont Blanc Unlimited" (MBU) pre season sale. The increase will be only 8%. The CLP increases from €735 to €800 and the MBU pass from €1077 to €1250. For children, the skipass will remain at €125 with parents paying €75 and the Mairie covering the other €40. The Mayor would prefer that, "Chamonix should be located below the top stations in the Alps, concerning ski passes rates. The evolution of prices, compared to other resorts in the Alps, places Chamonix at the top of the ski passes prices." A letter will be sent by the City Council to the CMB detailing their concern.
