CHAMONIX: False mountain guide, real customers

Alerted by a mountain guide who had seen this Lyonnais with a dozen clients in the Vallée Blanche, the High Mountain Rescue (PGHM) from Chamonix in the Haute-Savoie blocked the two "exits" from the itinerary mountain and arrested him Sunday afternoon. It was the end of the adventure for this 51 year old man who flouted the law for fifteen years, a medal of Mountain Guide in his jacket and the shield of the Mountain Guides Association in his backpack. "He had already been spotted in a refuge one day" says Eric Favret, the president of the company of guides from Chamonix. The National Union of guides had opened an investigation about it. "And bad luck for him, the guide in charge of the investigation spotted him on Sunday ... Auditioned by the police, the man was placed in custody and said he found the medal and didn't made his customers pay for his services. In return, his "customers" said they had found him on the Internet. And the most amazing, this fake mountain guide had even written a book about his mountaineering exploits! Meanwhile, the "fake mountain guide" has been released. Le Dauphiné
