2014 Climbing World Cup Results

Chamonix hosted the first European stop in the 2014 IFSC Lead World Cup series, with a dual Lead and Speed competition! Check out the results and the extensive video footage!

From Wednesday 09 July to Saturday 12 July 2014, Chamonix hosted the first European stop in the 2014 IFSC Lead World Cup series, with a dual Lead and Speed competition! Organised by the French Federation for Climbing and Mountaineering and Chamonix Club des Sports, the event gathered in the competition's "climbing village" with 20 exhibitors, surrounding the two climbing walls specially built for this occasion. Also, a big screen was set up to allow spectators a close-up view of the action.

The 2014 IFSC World Cup Chamonix attracted a total of 226 competitors from about thirty nations. There were 30 competitors from the host country, France.

​The remarkable Chamoniard climber, Romain Desgranges, currently the French climbing team leader, Lead Climbing Champion of France and European Climbing Champion 2013, aimed to take a victory in his hometown, Chamonix. Romain took an honorable 5th place, 3 points behind his compatriot, Thomas Ballet.

​In both men's and women's speed competition, the French took 4th place. In the women's Anouck Jaubert, who already has three bronze medals this year, and in the men's Bassa Mawem, still aiming for his first podium finsih of the year, were both just outside the medals.
