The Chamonix ski resort slopes are 97% open for the start of the February holidays in Chamonix. The relative mildness of the last few days may have dried out the Chamonix valley somewhat, but the snow cover remains quite good on the ski areas.
121 of the 125 alpine ski slopes in the valley were open during the first weekend of these winter holidays, meaning that all the areas were 97% open. Even if skiers wouldn't mind a snow fall, the groomed ski slopes can already keep them busy.
The rare ski slopes that are forced to remain closed are logically the lowest ones, those that allow you to ski back down to Chamonix, such as Les Nants in Brévent ski area or Les Praz in La Flégère ski resort. In short, if the weather is mild and sunny, nothing will stop the ski lifts from filling up with skiers.
Lower in altitude, the nordic cross country ski areas are also doing very well for the moment.
At the moment, almost all of the Chamonix, Argentière and Vallorcine cross country ski areas welcome cross-country skiers, but situation may change if temperatures keep mild.
