Climbing World Cup in Chamonix!

Chamonix hosts the first European stop in the 2014 IFSC Lead World Cup series, with a dual Lead and Speed competition!

Wednesday 09 July to Saturday 12 July 2014, the first European stop on the 2014 IFSC Climbing World Cup series: Lead and Speed, for both men and women.

Since 1999, Chamonix has hosted international climbing events. For 2014, about thirty nations, with a total of 226 competitors, including 30 French athletes are expected.

Climbing's top names: Jakob Schubert (Men, Lead), Jain Kim (Women, Lead), Danylo Boldyrev (Men, Speed), Mariia Krasavina (Women, Speed), all in number one in the general IFSC ranking are here to defend their position.

 

Among the French athletes, there are many names with a chance of winning in Chamonix.

Lead Competition:

The remarkable Chamoniard climber, Romain Desgranges, currently French climbing team leader, Lead Climbing Champion of France and European Climbing Champion 2013, aims to take a victory, in his hometown.

Gautier Supper, the only French man to take a medal so far this year, will be in Chamonix. He took bronze at the first stop of the Climbing World Cup in Haiyang, China in mid June 2014.

In the women's competition, Charlotte Durif and Helen Janicot, both finalists of previous Climbing World Cups are among the favorites to win in Chamonix.

Speed Climbing Competition:

Anouck Jaubert has taken three bronze medals in three competitions so far this year and along with the other French man in the speed climbing competition, Bassa Mawem, is targeting a place on the podium.
