Tuesday 26th June 2018, in the afternoon, a Polish woman (40) suffered a fatal fall in the Mont-Blanc massif, under the Cabane des Rognes, located at 2,768 meters above sea level.
According to Radio Poland, the woman in her forties was with a group of mountaineers at 2,700 metres when she slipped on the snow, lost her balance and fell off a slope.
It happened under the Cabane des Rognes, on the access road to the refuge of Tête Rousse, between the communes of Les Houches and Saint-Gervais.
Unortunately, rescuers at the scene were unable to save the woman because of her serious injuries.
Aparently, the woman was not properly equipped with mountain gear such as crampons.
The Chamonix High Mountain Rescue Team (PGHM), could only note her death.
