The Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (UTMB®) has committed to its 2019 edition to meet 15 eco-friendly commitments under the leadership of the NGO WWF.
The goal is to reconcile trail-related activities with the environmental issues of the Mont Blanc territories.
According to Le Dauphine, five axes are developed within the framework of this partnership:
- the support of the UTMB in the commitments made under the Gesi charter;
- the advice on the actions to be implemented following the carbon assessment that will be carried out on the UTMB 2019;
- the continuation of innovative and exemplary approaches of the UTMB in the field of sustainable development;
- the encouragement of the UTMB with its riders to support the WWF in its action to protect species diversity and the lynx boreal;
- support in the training of environmental ambassadors.
