Chamonix: Fatal Fall for German Mountaineer

In the morning of 22 February 2020, at around 9 am, a 43-year-old German mountaineer lost his life in a tragic fall.

The German mountaineer was preparing to go on a mountaineering run with his wife when she fell, dragging him into a 300 meters (984 ft) fall.

The two mountaineers were practising in the east face of Mont-Blanc du Tacul.

The 35-year-old woman had most likely pulled the relay and unscrewed, consequently falling at the foot of the Modica-Noury gully and dragging her husband with her.

Unfortunately, the 43-year-old German did not survive the fall.

His wife suffers from minor traumas and has been evacuated to Sallanches hospital.
