Friday 26 August 2022, around 10:45 a.m., a man fall to his death during a hike in Chamonix, on a path located between Montenvers and the Plan de l'Aiguille.
The 75-year-old hiker lost his life after slipping and falling several meters down a ravine. Unfortunately he died on the spot.
The victim of American nationality took part in a one day group preparation for the tour of Mont-Blanc supervised by a mid-mountain guide.
According to Le Dauphine, the accident took place on an intermediate path of the Aiguille du Midi. The route, very busy, presented no risk according to the PGHM of Chamonix.
