Friday 3 February 2023, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the 1st Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix 1924: the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley is hosting the Paris 2024 Flag Tour.
A little of history
Before the event of the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had called for the organization of the “International Winter Sports Week”. This was held in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc from 25 January to 5 February 1924.
Paris Flag Tour 2024
The festivities begin on Friday 3 February 2023 with a popular parade with the Paris 2024 Flag Tour in the presence of Olympians.
This event will be followed by the bib draw on Friday 3 February and the “Kandahar” Alpine Skiing World Cup events on Saturday 4 February.
These emotional moments are an opportunity to launch the celebrations that will lead to the ceremonies of the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Chamonix Games and the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
Provisional event schedule for Friday 3 February 2023:
- 4:00 p.m. - Gathering at the Place du Triangle de l’Amitié and preparation of the parade.
- 5:00 p.m. - Beginning of the parade, from Place du Triangle de l’Amitié to Place du Mont-Blanc.
- 5:30 p.m. - 6:10 p.m. - Speech and launch of the official anniversary of the 100th anniversary of the 1st Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix 1924.
- 6:30 p.m. - Kandahar draw of bibs – Place du Mont-Blanc.
- 7:00 p.m. - Entertainment – Place du Mont-Blanc.
