Despite a relatively soft landing, the helicopter's rotors are too damaged to fly and the helicopter will be heli-transported down the valley by a Super Puma military helicopter from Corsica. A doctor and a mechanic were onboard with the pilot. Nobody was injured. They were flying to rescue an injured climber of a group of firemen training on the difficult East face of the Grand Capucin. The climber had taken a 30m lead fall and lost consciousness, seriously injuring his head and ankle. The PGHM sent a EC 145 to rescue the shipwrecked crew as well as the injured fireman. Last weekend an Ecureuil B3 helicopter was forced to land on the Argentiere Glacier due to unknown engine trouble. Although the helicopter was badly damaged, the only person aboard, the pilot, sustained relatively minor injuries.
