Italian climbers spend the night on the North face of the Droites

At 200m from the summit, the two climbers from Turino called for help that couldn’t be given. Due to high winds and weather, the helicopter couldn’t do the rescue. The climbers continued up to spend the night more comfortably, at 4,000m. Yesterday morning at 7, four PGHM were dropped off at the Couvercle hut (2680m) and started climbing. Rescue workers found the two climbers towards the end of the morning. The rescue workers took their packs and helped them down the climb and back to the Couvercle where a helicopter could pick them up. Around 16h30, they arrived at the hospital in Chamonix. One of the two suffered from serious frost bite while the other was unharmed. The PGHM were called for five different rescues this Saturday.
