Live music, songs, painters, dancers and culinary delights…all your senses will be enjoying this festival “La Corse a Cham.” Organiser, Roland Béraud, who spends his holidays on the “Île de Beauté,” love to quote Sait-Exupery : "Le soleil a tellement fait l'amour avec la mer, qu'ensemble, ils ont enfanté la Corse." (The sun so enjoys making love to the sea, together they created their love child, Corsica). For the first time, a delegation from Chamonix will head to Bastia this Thursday to officially open the festival. The bond continues to grow between the skiing and mountaineering capital of the world with the Island of Beauty. The festivities start Friday night with a film at the Vox Cinema. Then, Sabrina Aïtelli and Taïna Casanova, two young Corsican singers will kick off the first concert of the festival. There will be no less than 12(!) concerts over the weekend. Comedy duo, Rachel and Betty, will follow the concert. A troop of dancers from Ajaccio in period attire will be performing at the Majestic on Friday night and the casino Sunday afternoon. The festival will also be packed with Corsican culinary specialties including wine, cheeses, sausages and more presented this weekend in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen square. Many artists have come over from their Mediterranean haven to present their works in many different bars and restaurants in Chamonix as well as the central square. Singer, Patrizia Gattaceca will give an exceptional concert Saturday night at the Majestic. The Corsica Festival is a delightful event in Chamnix that grows in popularity every year. It is recommended to reserve ahead for any concerts as they will up quickly. Let’s hope that the Corsicans will bring a bit of their sun and heat for a beautiful weekend in Chamonix!
