Alive after 200m fall on the Mont Maudit

It was around 7:00 p.m. Monday night, when the alarm reached the PGHM Chamonix. A climbing party of two French climbers, who had climbed the Central Pillar of Freney, a major route in the Italian side of Mont Blanc, came down by the route "Trois Monts" towards the Cosmiques Hut and the Aiguille du Midi. When they reached the Mount Maudit, at 4300m altitude, the belay broke when they were abseiling. And the lead climber fell 200m in the icy slope. Miraculously he only had some bruises and was brought safe to the hospital in Sallanches. Le Dauphiné
