Les Houches & St. Gervais communities have decided to cancel all the concessions of the Les Houches and St. Gervais ski areas. Currently there are 15 lifts, 3 lift companies and 5 different end dates of each contract (2013, 2014, 2018, 2021 and 2026). The decision concerns the 3 operators: the SEPP, SEM LH-SG and the SIVU. Elected officials voted this Wednesday night that all concessions will end as a "cause of general interest". This decision will take effect from December 1st. It's an end to disputes and conflicts. The cost of goods is estimated between 13 and 20 million euros, a sum to be divided between the 3 operators. Clearly, everything will start from scratch. A new operator will be chosen this fall and for many decades. If the community chose a new operator, the Les Houches & St Gervais ski area could attract big ski lift operators. Radio Mont Blanc
