In the last 3 years, the Golden Ice Axes (Piolets d'Or) have become a great event for Chamonix & Courmayeur. The event, which awards the best climbers of the year, will take place this year on April 13-16. But to open this 3 days festival, a Career Piolet d'Or is awarded to a great climber. After Walter Bonatti in 2009, and Reinhold Messner in 2010, in 2011 the Career Piolet d'Or will be awarded to Doug Scott. He was the first English to climb Everest in 1975, achieving a remarkable first route in the Southwest face. Doug Scott has made 45 expeditions on the highest mountains in the world and reached 40 summits. More informations here:www.pioletsdor.com Radio Mont Blanc
