New School of Music in the Jean Franco Centre

In 1996, the Chamonix School of Music flooded. In 1999, it then burnt down. The Chamonix School of Music is therefore now divided between 5 different sites. Since 1 September 2010 the School has also become inter-communal. In early 2010, the town of Chamonix bought the "Centre Jean Franco", and now the music school will move within the next 2 ½ years into the Annex building of this centre. The project to re-house the School of Music will cost 4.2 million euros & will involve 300 students in Chamonix. It will be the first new building in the John Franco Centre area, and in parallel the municipality wishes to develop the project in an "Eco-Habitat" way. Radio Mont Blanc
