Many stranded or exhausted in the mountains

The Chamonix Mountain Rescue, the PGHM, last Sunday morning received many calls from hikers and climbers stranded or exhausted in the mountains. A group of three hikers left on Saturday for the Aiguilles Rouges, but got stuck on the traverse of "Les Crochues". They found themselves trapped by bad weather and had to spend the night in the mountains. They were rescued on the Sunday morning about 8am unharmed, but now understand that the weather can change quickly in the mountains, especially at this time of frequent storms. Next case was a climber - a man aged 60 - rescued around 9:30 pm and airlifted to the hospital in Sallanches. The victim was suffering from snow blindness. Then it was the turn of a woman to be rescued. At 11:15am, the PGHM went to the Leschaux Refuge to rescue an exhausted climber. The alarm was raised by the gardien of the refuge. Finally, a climber of some thirty years got stuck on the traverse of "Les Courtes" and was rescued around 11:30 am Sunday morning. The man was exhausted. Le Dauphiné
