A 43-year-old Frenchman from Toulon has died in a climbing accident on the Italian side of Mont Blanc. The climber fell at around 4000 metres altitude during the ascent of the "Paroi des Eccles", between Mont Blanc de Courmayeur and the Aiguille Blanche de Peuteray. He had set off earlier the same morning from the Monzino refuge. The victim did not survive the 600m fall, his body was found below on the Freney glacier.
