The SISMALP network detected en earthquake at 9:40 p.m. last Sunday. It measured 2.7 on the Richter scale and had an epicenter located West of Vallorcine, a dozen kilometres North of Chamonix in the Aiguilles Rouges. The quake was an aftershock of the earthquake of September 8, 2005, which was measured at the time at magnitude 4.6. This Sunday night earthquake is the biggest shock since renewed seismic activity began last Friday night, and continued through to Monday, according to SISMALP in Grenoble.
