Shortly after 4:30 p.m. yesterday, Thursday, a large stonefall swept through the Couloir du Goûter. The dryness of the mountain is one of the reasons for the present unstable conditions. The Mayor of St Gervais issued a statement recommending climbers wishing to climb Mont Blanc via the "Voie Royal" to postpone their ascent. The Compagnie des Guides of Saint-Gervais have therefore decided to postpone any reservations today to climb Mont Blanc, and will wait for conditions to improve.
