This weekend two more climbers died in the Mont Blanc massif. On Saturday, a 73 year-old climber from Cuneo in Piedmont died when he slipped & fell into a crevasse, after climbing the Rebuffat route on the South Face of the Aiguille du Midi. He had abseiled back down the route & was making his way back to the shelter of the Refuge des Cosmiques when the accident occurred. A few hours later, around 18:00hrs, a Czech climber suffered a fatal fall of more than 300m, having just climbed Mont Blanc with three other climbers. The tragedy occurred between Mont Blanc du Tacul and the shoulder of Mont Maudit. For the moment the circumstances of the accident are still unknown.
