Wow, what a crazy week its been in the Chamonix valley! It snowed tons, and now its snowing again today, ready for a big weekend.
Yesterday, the sky cleared between 2 storms, and I took my touring skis up to the les Houches ski are to see what it is looking like. The snow was incredible, really fluffy powder, with a very decent snowpack.
The staff at the Les Houches ski hill were grooming and setting up the pistes and lifts ready for tomorrow's opening. The Prarion lift will open, as well as some other limited lifts and pistes. Also opening tomorrow is the Grands Montets area at Argentiere, but what lifts exactly will open depends on the avalanche conditions.
