Snowing today

Today its snowing again! It snowed between 5 and 10 centimetres overnight, depending on where you look, and today is cloudy with light snowfall. Its pretty soft everywhere out there right now.

The weekend was great, with good snow and some sunny clear spells - great for ski touring. On Saturday I met up with a friend and we went on a tour to the Col du Passon, which is accessed from the Grands Montets, and descends down the Glacier du Tour to Le Tour village. The weather was perfect: good viibility with only a few misty clouds coming in and out - we got lucky and avoided any fog. The temperature was cool, which kept the snow in good condition.

Starting early-ish from Argentiere, we didn't have to wait too long for the lifts up to the top of the Grands Montets, from where we skied down the back glacier to access the skin track, already wll set from the day before. The bootpack up to the col has some rocks near the top, so it turns into a short scramble, but its not too technical.

Skiing down the next glacier, there were hardly any tracks, and it was like a dream. The snow was deep, and mostly fluffy, apart from a short section where the North wind had buffed it a bit. We made it down to Le Tour village by 2pm.

It is starting to get busier around here, as many places in Europe have holidays starting this week and next week.
