Well, with all this sunshine, the Brevent is the place to be, with sunny terraces, softening snow around lunch time, and great views of all the surrounding peaks.
There were some flurries over the weekend, but no real snow accumulation, and now we have some more clear skies and a bit of foehn wind today, from the South. The temperatures are a bit milder, but still cool today, and the wind does play havoc with the Flegere access cable car, which had to close this morning because of gusts. When this happens, though, the ski area still stays open, and you can access it from Brevent by the Liason cable car.
The slopes are still loaded with snow, and Le Brevent has a great combination of groomed pistes, challenging off-piste, and some steep terrain for technical turns. It is a good idea to have sunscreen with you, though, as the sun reflects off the snow and burns really easily.
I went to the top of the Brevent to soak up the sun, and there was barely any wind up there. It felt quite warm, and the snow was great to ski. The steeper ungroomed terrain was fine to ski at around 1pm today. In the mornings it is pretty icy, and by later in the afternoon it becomes heavier slush, but I timed it about right when it was quite chalky. Every day is slightly different, though, even with the sunshine forecast for a few more days.
