The Regional Council of Auvergne Rhône Alpes gathered in permanent commission in Lyon on 30th November 2017, has validated financial aid to the territory of the Chamonix valley.
The financial aid awarded, is aimed for 5 projects:
- The Kandahar site
Financial assistance of €3 million in support of the reconfiguration of the KANDAHAR ski slope. An essential operation to ensure its sustainable reintegration into the World Cup calendar from February 2020;
A very important project in terms of tourism, which reflects the identity of the territory and its excellence in organizing sports competitions.
Since 1948, the Kandahar is the only alpine ski world cup event organized in the department.
- The site of Montenvers Mer de Glace
The vote of €1,5 million for the restructuring of the Montenvers touristic site, in addition to the strong involvement of the Department, to create a reference site in the Alps;
- Fayet High school
A financial assistance of €2 million for the necessary renovations of the sports center of Fayet High school;
- TAGIRN CCVCMB project
A regional contribution of €60,000 to a European project for the prevention of natural risks on the territory (TAGIRN);
- CREA Mont-Blanc
About €60,000 in support of the activities of CREA, an organization specialized in the study of natural mountain environments.
