Five Chamoniards to PyeongChang 2018 Olympics

The French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) unveiled Thursday 25th January 2018 the official list of the French athletes who will go to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Five Chamoniards will go to the 2018 Winter Olympics:

  1. Nordic Combined: François Braud
  2. Ski Jumping: Vincent Descombes-Sevoie
  3. Alpine Skiing: Blaise Giezendanner
  4. Snowboard Cross: Merlin Surget
  5. Cross-country skiing: Damien Tarantola

According to the town hall of Chamonix "It is a real consecration for these athletes and a great recognition for Chamonix whose distinctive feature is to have had athletes selected at all the Olympic Winter Games since those of 1924 in Chamonix ... Which now represents 161 different sports."

Unfortunately, will not be going to the 2018 Winter Olympics: Guillermo Fayed and Jonas Devouassoux.

No Olympics for Fayed, injured

Guillermo Fayed will not be going to the Olympics, due a lumbar disc injury sustained at the Kitzbuhel Downhill, Saturday 20th January 2018.

The French delegation: 107 athletes, 44 women and 63 men

France will send 107 athletes in South Korea, compared with 114 athletes sent to Sotchi Winter Olympics in 2014.

The 2018 Winter Olympics is scheduled to take place from 9 to 25 February in Pyeongchang County, South Korea. For more info on the full calendar of the events, click here
