The man that disappeared on 21st October 2018 had finally been found. Unfortunately, he is dead.
When he went missing, he was descending Mont Blanc on the Goûter route. PGHM is almost certain that the victim passed by the Vallot Hut (4 362 m), as they watched the remote webcams.
Eventually, the rescuers found the victim at the bottom of a deep crevasse (at 3 900 m on Dôme du Goûter), as an ice axe shined in the sun, on the surface of the glacier.
The man originated from Annecy, Haute-Savoie and was 50 years old. This is the second death on Mont Blanc in only a few days. Earlier, another 55-year-old adventurer died on the same route, while descending Dôme du Goûter with his son.
