Third edition of the Intervall'ée - fun competition in the Chamonix Valley

The third edition of Intervall'ée will be held from the 10th of February to the 10th of March and it will contain four stages, each of them taking place in one of the Chamonix valley's communes: Servoz, Vallorcine, Les Houches and Chamonix.

After a good day of skiing, everyone who finds themselves in the Chamonix Valley from February 10 to March 10 is invited to enjoy one of the most entertaining competitions happening in the valley.

After two spectacular first editions of Intervall'ée, it was almost inevitable for a third edition to take place.

During four Sundays spread over the months of February and March, locals from Servoz, Vallorcine, Les Houches and Chamonix will energetically compete against each other in a cultural, burlesque and sporty competition.

The goals of the Intervall'ée are to entertain tourists and reinforce links between towns of the valley.

Rules for the Intervall'ée

The four teams will consist of 20 to 25 people and it is not necessary for the teams to remain the same throughout all the stages.

Each commune is responsible for providing the required materials and proposing a place for the stage happening in their commune. The place may either be in town or snow covered.

Each stage will present three challenges for the competitors: disguised, burlesque and sporty.

The challenges will last for around 20 minutes each and there will be three questions on the history of Chamonix valley between challenges.

Some tests can be found in more than one stage - as it is the case for the "Bubbles foot", which is found in all four stages.

Who can participate? All locals who are older than 18 years old and desire to fight for their commune in a competition full of games and fun. Unfortunately, applications were closed on the 31st of December.

Mulled wine for everyone

On all four stages, three or four people from each team will make mulled wine.

They are allowed the add a personal touch to the wine and, at the end of the day, "judges", chosen from the spectators, will vote the best mulled wine.

This will bring extra points for the team who makes the best mulled wine - and, of course, mulled wine for all spectators!

On the same principle, three or four people from each team will make cold or hot snacks for the spectators.

The inspiration for the Intervall'ée

In 1967, Les Houches and in particular, Bellevarde, hosted the Interneige competition by Guy Lux and Simone Garnier, which saw Les Houches against Montana (Switzerland).

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this beautiful day of competition, Les Houches has organized the first edition of the Intervall'ée in 2017.

With the third edition happening in 2019, it appears that the Intervall'ée might become an annual event in Chamonix valley.

Calendar

  • Sunday, February 10th, from 6.30 pm to 8 pm, in Servoz, at the Pré de l’Église.
  • Sunday, February 17th, from 6.30 pm to 8 pm, in Vellorcine, place de la Gare.
