One of the most awaited ski competition in Chamonix will happen this upcoming weekend.
The 12th edition of Run & Skate will take place this Sunday, on the 10th of February.
The Run & Skate event started in 2008 as a result of true dedication to sports of Ravanel & Co., a sports shop in Chamonix, run by passionate sportsmen.
The Run & Skate brings together sports enthusiasts and combines two endurance disciplines: trail running and cross-country skiing!
Ravanel & Co created an annual sports event in the Chamonix valley which comprises three different races, both individual and team ones.
Types of races & trails
Run & Skate will take place Sunday, the 10th of February 2019 and it will consist of three challenges:
- Individual Run & Skate: 11km run plus 14 km skate;
- Team Run & Skate: 11 km run plus 14 km skate;
- The Trail Blanc: 11 km run only.
The individual event, which consists of 11km run plus 14 km skate, is highlighted by the fact that after running 11 km, the competitor only stops to change their trail shoes with skating equipment, and then continues the race. Moreover, the chronometer does not stop!
The team event is actually a relay one. The teams are made of two members and one of them runs the 11 km after which they pass the relay to their partners and their partners will finish the race by skating the 18 km.
The skate challenge will follow the course of the Nordic area of Chamonix, in the source moraine of Arveyron. The running test will wind its way up the old Glacier des Bois moraine.
The schedule
Saturday, the 9th of February 2019, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, at "Maison Karine Ruby" (Chamonix Sports Club), the numbered bibs will be shared among the competitors.
Sunday, the 10th of February 2019, departure of races:
- 9 am: simultaneous departures of the Run & Skate individual and team race.
- 10 am: the forecast of first arrivals of skiers.
- 10:30 am: the departure of the Trail Blanc race.
- from 12:30 pm: Hot meals will be served on arrival by the Poêle Géante, at the Richard Bozon Sports Center. Buying a meal ticket is possible for those accompanying the athletes.
- During the meal, at around 1 pm: Run & Skate award ceremony.
