Wednesday, the 1st of May 2019, was a catastrophic day for one Spanish skier.
According to Le Dauphine, the 40 years old Spanish national was skiing on the Rognons Glacier in the Mont-Blanc Massif when he fell 30 meters into a crevasse.
The Spanish skier was seriously injured and suffered from head trauma.
He was rescued and secured by the PGHM of Chamonix, who evacuated him by helicopter to the Sallanches hospital.
The vital prognosis of the victim was not engaged.
In the north-east area of the Rognons Glacier, the skiing is technically difficult with crevasse and avalanche danger. Many of the routes, especially on the right (far) side, have a serious serac-fall, off the Aiguille Verte.
