Update Tuesday, the 18th of June, 2019.
On the 15th of June 2019, during their latest press-release, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc announced that the reopening of the Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola will be postponed.
According to the CMB, the technical visits to the cable are continuing, weather conditions permitting.
As these conditions have been very capricious of late, the final inspection & authorization from the competent national authorities have not yet been obtained.
The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc is unable, at the moment, to estimate the opening date.
The opening date will be announced via a press release as soon as the official authorizations have been signed.
Original news from Friday, the 17th of May, 2019.
The Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola has been closed since January 2018, when the storm Eleanor caused considerable damage to it.
Shortly after, an ambitious 2-steps construction project was designed and the works carried on until now.
In their latest press release, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc has announced that they expect to reopen the Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola by mid-June 2019.
The works on the Panoramic Mont-Blanc continue and the gondola will not reopen at the end of May, as it was initially anticipated.
" We are now approaching the final steps, which have taken longer than expected due to the recent weather conditions.", declared the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc.
They are planning to reopen the Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola by mid-June.
The exact opening date will be announced as soon as it is available.
