It's now official. After a few days of great expectation, the Grands Montets ski resort will not open this next weekend. Despite the hard work of the snowmaking team since last weekend in order to produce as much snow as possible, the snowcover at the present moment is not sufficient to envisage even a partial opening of the Grand Montets ski area for the coming weekend (16th & 17th November 2019).
Everybody in Chamonix is hoping to see an improvement in the snow conditions over next week which could result in partial of the Grands Montets ski area for the weekend 23rd & 24th November 2019.
Another useful information is that the consolidation work on the arrival station of the Bochard gondola, job done during the 2019 summer season, has been successfully completed.
This work was undertaken to ensure an opening of the lift in complete safety throughout the winter season.
All the teams (snowmakers, technicians, ski patrollers…) are mobilized to ensure the opening of all our ski areas & tourist sites as early as possible, snow conditions permitting.
