The 16th edition of La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc takes place from 11 to 22 January 2020.
Since the first edition in 2005, La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont-Blanc has become the annual event of the dog sledge race in Europe & the most demanding stage race set in a unique alpine setting.
La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc is an international sledge dog race spanning 900 km (560 miles) with a change in altitude of more than 25,000 metres (82,000 ft), in the French and Swiss Alps.
The race is intended for mushers with teams of 14 dogs who are experienced in middle & long distance.
This year, la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc brings together more than 55 mushers and 500 dogs from all over Europe. More than 50 000 spectators enjoy this unique experience yearly, in 20 stations decorated for this occasion.
The annual race kicked off on 11 January 2020 in Samoëns with a spectacular opening ceremony when race spectators were able to get as close as possible to the action.
