On 31 January 2020, a group of free-riders moving under Pointe Helbronner, on the Italian side of the Mont-Blanc massif, were involved in an avalanche.
Fortunately, no one was swept into the flow, which occurred about 100 meters (328 ft) below the avalanche that killed two experienced Italian skiers in November 2019.
