Haute-Savoie: Special Coronavirus Measures for municipal elections

In spite of the presence of the coronavirus COVID-19, municipal elections are still being prepared in Haute-Savoie.

The first round will take place on 15 March 2020 and special hygiene measures will be implemented to ensure everyone will be safe when leaving the polling stations.

The Chamonix valley ski lifts are not the only places where hygiene measures were undertaken to protect people from the spread of the COVID-19.

The first tour of the municipal elections in Haute-Savoie will take place on 15 March 2020 and several sanitary measures are to be undertaken, such as:

  • Most of the polling stations in Haute-Savoie will supply hydroalcoholic gel to voters;
  • Some municipalities, such as Chamonix and Passy, invite everyone to come with their own pen to sign up. Black in the first round (15 March) & blue in the second (22 March);
  • Albertville will provide masks and gloves to voters who request it;
  • The elderly, who are the most vulnerable to the coronavirus COVID-19, are encouraged to make a power of attorney. Or to vote outside peak hours, that is, between 9 am and 11 am, and in the afternoon.
