On 11 March 2020, shortly after 6.30 am, the firefighters were called at the Col des Montets, where a snowfall cut off the road.
The snowfall came from the Nant avalanche and it was more than three meters covering the road.
With more than three meters high covering the roadway, the burial of a vehicle was possible.
Three firefighters, therefore, proceeded to probe the flow with special metal probes, strong enough to probe this type of heavy snow.
No vehicle was discovered and the road was cleared.
The road leading to the Vallorcine pass remains cut off until further notice because other avalanche releases are underway.
As a reminder, the snow and weather conditions of the past few days favour low and medium altitude avalanches.
