To limit the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, containment measures are being reinforced in France.
On 14 March 2020, the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc has announced the total closure of the ski areas, ski facilities & altitude restaurants in the Chamonix valley.
Moreover, the French government has announced a gradual reduction of all long-distance transportation.
According to Radio Mont-Blanc, the frequency of long-distance transportation will be gradually reduced.
At SNCF, only 7 out of 10 trains ran on 16 March 2020. Traffic will then be reduced to a TGV on 2 and 2 TER on 3.
The Léman Express is no exception to this exceptional measure: since 16 March, no more trains are running in the Arve valley. Substitution buses, which will transport fewer people, will be set up.
As for the lake connections on Lake Geneva, the routes have been revised. The Thonon-Lausanne line is cancelled until further notice.
The boats are tilted on the Evian-Lausanne link. The number of round trips is increased, but each boat will be limited in the number of passengers.
