About 30 socio-professionals gathered at the foot of the slopes in the Planards area on 9 December to discuss the consequences of the closure of the ski lifts during the Christmas holiday.

Seasonal workers, ski instructors and guides then discussed their loss of activity, which led some of them into a precarious situation.
The mayor of Chamonix Eric Fournier and several elected officials went to meet them. "On Friday [11 December] we will have answers, not on a rapid reopening, but on compensation mechanisms", declared the mayor, recalling that a new meeting between the Prime Minister and mountain professionals is scheduled for 11 December.
Several seasonal workers also explained to elected officials that they did not meet the necessary conditions to receive the 900 euros in compensation promised to employees both deprived of work and unemployment benefits.
A situation which plunges them into a certain precariousness.
The first deputy Aurore Termoz is committed to supporting each of those in need at the Communal Social Action Center, widely mobilized since the start of the second confinement to help Chamonix families in difficulty. "We must remain united and present solutions to the government rather than criticizing without thinking", insisted the mayor.
