Vallée Blanche: Crevasse fall at Col du Rognon

On Saturday 5 March 2022, a skier descending the Vallée Blanche fell into a crevasse at Col du Rognon (3100 m).

 

Rescued by the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM), the man escaped with a few injuries. He was taken to Chamonix hospital.

According to Le Dauphiné, for the PGHM, the day was also marked by 5 other interventions. In particular the rescue of an 8-year-old child who fractured his femur.

During the day, the PGHM performed several rescues : at the Grands Mulets refuge for an epileptic fit, in the Flégère ski area for a dislocated shoulder and in the Tour ski area for a fractured tibia.

The afternoon ended in Contamines-Montjoie for a broken ankle of a 24-year-old skier at the Col des Chasseurs.
